They will join a ‘who’s who’ list of Star Trek alumni including William Shatner, LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, Jonathan Frakes, Marina Sirtis, and Terry Farrell with more guests soon to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Programming:
In addition to Star Trek talent, Star Trek: Mission New York will provide fans an intimate look at Leonard Nimoy’s life with two special documentaries developed by his children and the only event on the planet that will showcase both projects. Adam Nimoy’s documentary about his iconic father – For The Love Of Spock – premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and has been met with critical success delving into the life of Star Trek’s Mr. Spock as well as that of Leonard Nimoy. Julie Nimoy will join Adam onsite with husband, David Knight, to screen COPD: Highly Illogical – A Special Tribute To Leonard Nimoy. The film is both a tribute and an exploration of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the cause of Nimoy’s passing last year at age 83.

FOR THE LOVE OF SPOCK
The project started out as a collaboration between Leonard and his son, director Adam Nimoy, and was intended to help celebrate the upcoming 50-year anniversary of Star Trek: The Original Series. The project initially focused solely on the creation and evolution of Mr. Spock and the impact of Spock on Star Trek fans as well as on popular culture. After Leonard passed away in February 2015, Adam decided to broaden the focus of the film to include his father’s life and legacy. For The Love Of Spock draws on film clips, still photographs and interviews to paint a complete picture of Leonard’s artistic career with an emphasis on his most famous alter ego. Interviews with friends, family and colleagues include William Shatner and the original Star Trek cast as well as Zachary Quinto and the new crew of the Starship Enterprise. The film also contains interviews with filmmaker JJ Abrams and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.

COPD: Highly Illogical – A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy is a New Film by Julie Nimoy and David Knight.
Generations of science-fiction fans know Leonard Nimoy as his iconic character Mr. Spock on the Starship Enterprise. His message, “Live Long and Prosper,” has resonated through the generations and become a siren call for those of like mind.
Diagnosed with COPD in 2013, Leonard took to social and traditional media to bring this common but often undiagnosed disease to light. In his last interviews and through Twitter, he reached out to educate his fans, openly discussing COPD, which affects as many as 30 million Americans.
COPD: Highly Illogical – A Special Tribute to Leonard Nimoy is a way to continue Nimoy’s final mission. The documentary will educate viewers about COPD through Nimoy’s personal story of courage, information about the latest treatment options available and on the quest for a cure.
Star Trek: Mission New York will take place September 2-4 at the Javits Center in Manhattan. Official information can be found at www.StarTrekMissions.com and the Star Trek: Mission New York social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram).
