Week in TV: 2/12 Humans, Awards, and The Walking Dead

By Alyssa & DRWHO42

It is a quieter week with regard to new entries. Doubt from CBS is a lawyer procedural which may draw some attention.

The big events in our TV viewing outlook will occur earlier in the week. Sunday we have the two award shows – BBCA’s British Academy Film Awards and The 59th Annual Grammy Awards. However, the we feel the biggest award will go to AMC’s The Walking Dead followed by Talking Dead.

Our resident TWD expert Mlgagne has done an excellent character study on Darrel Dixon, we strongly suggest taking advantage of her research before the back half of season 7. We are looking forward to her future character studies! Click here for the Darrel Dixon Character study. In addition, the Blog team will recommence the weekly TWD recaps so be on the look out some great recaps.

Monday we’ve got the anticipated return of Humans on AMC. If you have not watching the series you can catch up on AMC.com.

Lastly, we will say goodbye to Young Pope, which wraps up its first season on HBO this week.

Looking back at the prior week we were very impressed. First up is 24: Legacy, the excitement of the early seasons of 24 is back. It remains to be seen if they’re able to maintain the plausibility going forward but they certainly succeeded on the first 2 episodes. For the uninitiated we recommend checking it out since it is a total new cast and new story – perfect entry point to the franchise. The second new series debuting last week was FOX’s APB. The series centers on a billionaire who uses his fortune and technological resources to help fight crime in a Chicago police district. The premiere was interesting, however we are curious about the long-term storyline with this particular offering. We will continue to watch on the chance it becomes more then an updated Knight Rider.

The third new series is FX’s Legion. We highly recommended this series. It also has a re-watch value to pick up on the things you may have missed on the first go-around. It’s in our top 20 shows of the season.

We’re announcing the winter & spring season premieres every Sunday so stay tune to our weekly posts for more details. What shows are you looking forward in 2017? If there are any series that excites you please join the conversation on the FoCC forum and let us know by clicking here.

DOUBT stars Katherine Heigl as Sadie Ellis, a brilliant attorney at a boutique firm who starts to fall for her charismatic client, Billy Brennan, an altruistic pediatric surgeon recently accused of murdering his girlfriend 24 years ago. Sadie is hiding her growing feelings from everyone, including her close friend and colleague, Albert Cobb, who thinks he knows everything about her. Working on other cases at the practice is Cameron Wirth, a transgender Ivy League graduate who fights passionately for her clients since she’s experienced injustice first hand; Tiffany Simon, a second-year associate who is quickly learning the ropes from Wirth; and Nick, a former felon who earned his degree while serving time. They all consider it a privilege to work for Isaiah Roth, a revered legal lion and “lefty” legend, whose approval is their holy grail. Sadie’s decision to become involved with her client could put her career, as well as her happiness, at risk if Billy is found guilty, which means she needs to work all the harder to prove reasonable doubt, even if she has some herself.  Click to read more   Click for trailer
