Next Week in TV 6/25: The return of a Preacher and a last trip in the TARDIS

By DRWHO42 and Alyssa

This week will not be a dull one for TV with the returns of Preacher and Broadchuch topping our list of picks. Preacher’s first season was a delight for fans and we can only expect more of the same this season. Mlgagne has written a great and insightful character study of Tulip – click here to check it out. We will also be treated to a double dose since the premiere will be held over two nights. Be sure to check out our Preacher episode recaps by our very own Miclpea.

At midweek the UK drama returns for its third and final season. The first two seasons of this gripping crime drama features an excellent cast, terrific performances, and a gripping “who done it” storyline which kept us guessing throughout out each season.

Other notable mentions are Killjoys, Battle of the Network Stars, Prime Suspect: Tennison – which is a three part origin series of the Helen Mirren crime series (Prime Suspect).

This week we will also see the finales for Doctor Who, Veep, Silicon Valley, and iZombie. Doctor Who’s season was unmatched with new monsters, great performances by the cast (and even the guest actors have garnered attention from critics and fans alike).  It is a little bittersweet because it will be the second-to-last Capaldi episode.

Looking back at last week The Mist (based on the Stephen King novel)took a little time to establish itself but by the end of the first episode there was a payoff. Based on the scenes from the upcoming weeks this series should have some staying power and also deliver a decent mixture of situational drama with a dose of horror. Netflix’s Glow has also been getting a lot of buzz with it’s very original script about ’80s woman’s wrestling. Give it a try.

We found out this week that American Gods will not have a panel this year at SDCC however on the bright side Netflix will have a booth on the exhibit hall floor – which is a first for them. We are hoping for a Stranger Things Panel. The blog team and members of the FoCC forum are speculating which shows will have a presence at San Diego Comic Con – click here to join the conversation.
