Announcements related to San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) are coming fast and furious, now that the convention is less than 3 weeks away (SDCC 2017 will be held July 20-23, with Preview Night on July 19). As in prior years, Entertainment Weekly (EW) will have a strong presence, both inside and outside of the convention center.

First, EW will be hosting two major panels. On Friday, July 21, from 1:45 – 2:30 pm in Ballroom 20, will be EW’s Brave New Warriors, featuring Rodrigo Santoro (Westworld), Ricky Whittle (American Gods), Richard Rankin (Outlander), David Harbour (Stranger Things), Christopher Meloni (Happy!), and Colin O’ Donoghue (Once Upon A Time). Then, on Saturday, July 22, from 2:00 – 2:45 pm in Hall H, EW will host Women Who Kick Ass, in a new ‘Icon Edition’, featuring Charlize Theron, star of the upcoming Atomic Blonde film.

SDCC attendees always look forward to EW’s special Comic Con issues. This year’s SDCC preview issue will hit newsstands on July 14, while a special ‘at the con’ edition of the magazine will be available from F.Y.E. street crews roaming the Gaslamp during the convention itself. The ‘at the con’ edition will feature Charlize Theron as Atomic Blonde on the cover. Here is a picture of the special EW cover.

EW will also be set up at the Hard Rock hotel with the EW Studio, holding celebrity interviews and showcasing upcoming Hollywood projects. This includes two After Dark events, featuring FX Network shows during one and Marvel Television shows during the other. New this year is the addition of live streaming content for EW: The Show, the new program from People/Entertainment Weekly Network (PEN).

The Stargate franchise has also announced its return to SDCC, with its first panel in seven years. The Stargate Universe panel will be held at the Marriott Marquis & Marina Hotel in Grand Room 1 &2 on Thursday, July 29, from 6:00-7:00 pm.

The SDCC 2017 schedule is coming together, with more announcements expected this week. Are you excited for SDCC panels? Join the conversation on FoCC!
