Next Week in TV 11/12: The Punisher is here!

By DRWHO42, Alyssa, & Mario Wario

It has only been a couple of weeks since our trip to the Upside Down of Stranger Things and no sooner of completing our ST2 binges, Netflix will be drawing us back in for another binge session as Marvel’s The Punisher is making its highly anticipated debut this Friday. Also on our recommended list for this week is Future Man on Hulu which debuts on Tuesday. But until then, please check out Transmute Jun’s review of the series by clicking here.

For those interested in how comic books influenced icons in the comic and movie industry, put Robert Kirkman’s Secret History Of Comics on your radar. The new show debuts Sunday as part of AMC’s Visionaries series. Secret History of Comics will be comprised of six parts and is focused on superheroes and their contribution to our society. Sunday will feature Stan Lee while the second airing on Monday will have Patty Jenkins, the director of  Wonder Woman. She will discuss how Lynda Carter’s portrayal of the character impacted her as a child and why it’s important to have female superheroes. Later in the series rapper and actor Method Man from the Wu-Tang Clan will discuss one of his favorite comics (psst…Black Panther) plus the shift in the culture surrounding comic books. With the inclusion of Method Man and Patty Jenkins we are also reminded of the #BlackHerosMatter movement on social media and the panels discussing the importance of having heroes we can identify with during SDCC and NYCC.

Of course as we inch closer and closer to Thanksgiving, the season and fall finales will begin to pick up steam. The most notable for this week are the season finales for American Horror Story, Vice Principals, Law & Order: The Menendez Murders, Better Things, and You’re The Worst. On the fall finale front we will see the finale episodes of 2017 for Star Trek: Discovery, The Blacklist, How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal, as they head off for the winter break. Lastly, The Mindy Project and Longmire take their final bow this week.

The TV conversation is just beginning! Click here to join on the conversation over at the FoCC forum.
