Falling Water Returns to USA Network

By Miclpea

Lizzie Brochere as Tess

Falling Water, the fantasy show about dreams, as well as those who can travel between dreams and reality, returns to the USA Network on January 6th, 2018. The show is among a group of cerebral programs, such as Legion, that center around the malleability of dreams and reality and those who have the power to affect one or both. The characters in Falling Water who demonstrate the ability to travel between dreams and reality are Tess (Lizzie Brocheré), Burton (David Ajala), Taka (Will Yun Lee), Kumiko (Jodi Long-Taka’s mother), Ann Marie Bowen (Melanie Nicholls-King), and the Greens. Bill Boerg (Zak Orth) and the boy (S. Bryson Williams). The boy has the ability to affect reality far greater than anyone else. You can watch all 10 episodes of Season 1 of Falling Water on Amazon at this link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L354FRO .

Here is a very quick recap of Season 1 and the season finale so that you can have a quick reminder before the premiere January 8. SPOILER ALERT-Do not read if you have not watched the first season of Falling Water.

David Ajala as Burton

In the first season of Falling Water, Tess searched for her son (the boy) whom she believes was stolen from her after his birth. Family and friends claim that Tess hallucinated the birth of her son. Bill Boerg is a wealthy, eccentric businessman who agrees to help Tess but for his own selfish reasons. The Greens are a group of mysterious players who initially kidnapped the boy for their own purposes. Burton is looking for the mysterious Woman in Red whom he met while dreaming. Taka can only speak to his mother, who is in a vegetative state while he is dreaming.

The Season 1 finale brings all of the key players together. Burton has found and rescued the boy from a dream prison where the boy was being held. The boy took Burton to meet the Woman in Red, who is being held in another prison. Unfortunately, she was quite mad and repeatedly stabbed Burton. The boy, in a dream, left a message for Tess to meet him and Burton at Marcellos, a restaurant. Tess went to the restaurant but, against instructions, told Taka where she was going.

Zak Orth as Bill Boerg

Through a series of differently played out events at the restaurant, Tess and the boy tried to escape from Boerg, as well as the Greens. However, each time either the Greens or Boerg managed to find and trap them. Every time that Tess and the boy were caught, the boy somehow succeeded in sending Tess back to outside Marcello’s. This started the sequence all over again but Tess, Burton, and Taka retained the memories of each occurrence and they had learned from their previous mistakes. Eventually, Tess, Burton, Taka and the boy arrived at the same point in Marcello’s. Taka told Tess that Tess’ sister, Sabine (Brooke Bloom), is being held prisoner in her dreams. Burton decided to call another mysterious figure, H. Robert Arnot (Douglas Hodge), for help. Arnot took them to his home but they were found there by Boerg, who demonstrated extraordinary powers in finding them.

Boerg used a specially designed device to transport them to a room which is outside space and time to reveal his plans but Tess had Taka call the Greens. Tess destroyed Boerg’s device, which allowed the Greens to enter. However, it sent them back to Marcello’s. As the Greens broke into the restaurant, Tess told the boy that no matter what happens or how many times it takes, they will eventually win.

Will Yun Lee as Taka

At the end of the Season 1 finale, Tess left in her car with the boy and the device. Taka woke up with Sabine nearby and she appeared to have been adversely affected by the Greens, who had locked her in her dreams. Burton was a prisoner of the Greens and the Woman in Red. The Greens who attacked Tess and her group in Marcello’s were dead. The boy had left a sign there for them: My name is James. With this as a backdrop, where will Season 2 take us?

Falling Water has left us with so many unanswered questions. Tess and James are leaving New York City, but where can they go that they will not be found? How will Burton escape the Greens? What will happen to Taka and Sabine? Where is Boerg? Who is James’ father? These are questions that viewers want answered in Season 2. But, as with any great show, Falling Water will raise new questions even before it answers the current questions.
