Hangout 1/14: Return of Leonard and Alyssa & Mystery box Rules

From An Englishman’s site

“…we’re back, baby!”

It’s been a long time coming – and Alyssa Franks (Friends Of Comic Con Forum) would have, no doubt, preferred this to have happened a lot sooner – but today sees the return of your favourite SDCC / con / pop culture podcast, back after the fun, frivolousness, frictions and f#*kups of the Festive Season!

And we’re back with a bang as we look forward to (yes, we can say it now) THIS YEAR’S San Diego Comic-Con. Join us as we set ourselves on a path to this years con calendar, right and true… yup, it’s time to get #SDCCfit again and we’ll be having a number of guests who’ll advise you on the healthy and energetic ways you can get the most out of your conventions in 2018!

As promised the the great Con Fit Mystery Box challenge rules:

Comic con Fit Mystery box challenge with prizes:
The idea is jump start us all to better eating habits- so we can enjoy our conventions a bit more.
The fitness guys we’re having on next 2 weeks will say it is about moving – but it’s a lot easier to move when you’re 30 lbs lighter With weight loss, the battle is won or lost in the Kitchen. A “diet” is not the way to lose weight, eating for enjoyment and fitness is.
If you choose to take part in the challenge, we ask that you prepare a meal this week.

Eating for heath often fails every afternoon at 4pm (ish) when we open up the fridge, look inside & ask ourselves what to cook for supper tonight. Yeah, the frozen chicken fingers with a side of french fries is easy but sometimes- if you’ve stocked your fridge a little differently healthier choices are just as easy to cook.

Rules
Cook one meal this week using at least 4 items from the mystery box list
Take take a picture of the end product (bonus points for pictures/clips during food prep)
Include a basic recipe with instruction
You can use other items

I broke the food into categories but folks don’t have to use each category & can substitute. For example no chicken/tofu & use cheese and 3 veg & a carb- Aaron from Comic Con Fit will be joining us next week to help evaluate and go over events. The following week, Jan 28th Jeff Muller, The Might Jerd will be joining us to announce the winners.

Send it to me [email protected]. We’ll screen share the pictures on the 21st (with aaron). On the 28th The mighty Jerd will announce the winners – along with complete recipes

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask on the dedicated thread on the forum located here Send all pictures and basic recipies to [email protected]. We’ll go over them next week with Leonard and Aaron, put up screen shots, maybe create a voting method for our followers.
The most important thing is to create something lighter, that you like and will cook again. We’re betting that other submissions will be interesting creations and with provocative twists others might not have thought of. Hopefully others will find your creations interesting. We are looking forward to seeing what folks create! Good luck with the 4pm problem….what are u cooking for supper tonight?

Alyssa bought her first comic at age 7 and was hooked. She has collected comics most of her life. Recently, she has branched out to comic art and books and the occasional Lego set. She goes to as many cons as she can and enjoys the 'long form' storytelling of the television medium. She is also a foodie and is always up for trying new and different food.
