Next Week in TV 1/28: Altered Carbon and the return of Strike Back!

By DRWHO42, Mario Wario, & Alyssa

We enter the final week before the big game between the Eagles and Patriots and that means it is time for the Pro Bowl. There will be plenty of action and NFL stars playing this year’s “fun” game in Orlando.

Looking back at the last week in TV there was plenty of buzz around Counterpart, The Alienist, Black Lighting, The X-Files, and 9-1-1. The freshman series 9-1-1 has had an impressive showing so far and captures the essence the classic series E.R. conveyed. We recommend you give these series a shot.

Sunday evening will feature a celebration of music with the 60th annual Grammy awards taking place in New York City.

Friday is the spotlight for the week with the premiere of Altered Carbon on Netflix and the return of the Cinemax action series Strike Back! Altered Carbon takes in a future where the concept of death avoided technology. The trailers look interesting with a mix of action and visuals reminiscent of Blade Runner. Strike Back returns for its 6th season with a whole new team (no Sullivan Stapleton or Philip Winchester this time). From what we have seen from the behind-the-scenes featurettes and trailers this new series should not disappoint with same level of adrenaline-laced action as the prior seasons, which Cinemax has now relabeled Strike Back: Legacy.

Lastly, we saw so long to Shameless, Happy!, Valor, Brave, and The Good Place as they wrap up their seasons this week.
