~~ THE ROAD TO SDCC 2016 STARTS RIGHT HERE!! ~~

Really? We're kickstarting a fresh stretch towards San Diego already?! We've only just finished the last one, haven't we??

Ha! Yes, you're absolutely right, we're still picking up the pieces of SDCC 2015 but, as has become more and more apparent, San Diego Comic-Con has become a year-round marathon.

In this, our first episode of the 2015/2016 season, we look forward to what's next on everyone's horizon, we talk about what you can do now to prepare for SDCC 2016, and we chat about the current state of con culture. We're joined by Mark Searby to talk about what his San Diego adventure was like, along with his trip to London Film & Comic Con recently.

Also on the hangout - in roving reporter mode - Alyssa Franks will be beaming in, direct from Boston Comic Con! Should be a great episode...

~~ REPORT FROM SHEFFIELD FILM & COMIC CON! ~~

After ‘ little excursion around Boston Comic Con a couple weeks back, Leonard is getting his chance to wander around a small UK con, held at the Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, the Sheffield Film & Comic Con, organised by .

Some great guests have been invited to this con — including Michael Biehn, Robert Englund, Chris Judge and Gareth David-Lloyd — and Leonard is hoping he can bring some of the sights and sounds of the event to this weeks episode.

Also, we will be GIVING AWAY a Marvel Collector Corps ‘Secret Wars’ Box to a lucky viewer, LIVE on this weeks Hangout, courtesy of Funko. Will you be the lucky recipient? You have to be in it to win it!

<shhhhh, none of the D23 will be able to watch since they're all tied up with the mouse, so the odd on winning will be really good>

hopefully we'll have some footage from d23, Leonards report from the con, & my rantings on whatever strikes my fancy at the moment.
I don't quite know where i'll be broadcasting from.... somewhere in the woods of Maine.

Ahh they were not using RFID , they were using You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login , most scans took multiple times, that why it took awhile to get people in.

Picking up badges was slow , but that was for Will Call, Press and other special cases. I, like most attendees received the badges in the mail so getting in was no problem on Friday , but I did arrived after the opening.

The security personnel were all Disney employees and very friend and polite , unlike pro staff in SDCC :D
The more things change, the more they stay the same

This week's Hangout was a bit of a technical car crash and, although I think Alyssa and I just about kept it together, I think it was reflective of how much attention I've been spending on them - I've seen spread a little thin and since SDCC I've let them go a bit lax in recent weeks.

That stops right now.

We've got some ace dedicated episodes coming up, I'm focusing all my energy on getting a new batch of special guests and fresh faces on to join us, I'm determined to work on the technical issues we've been having and I'm improving the production values of this thing if if f@#king kills me, even if comes down to renting a dedicated studio with some decent bandwidth. There's stuff in the pipeline that, if I really step up the game, could take us to a whole other level.

Bear with me, gang. I'm working on it. It might bankrupt me but I'm working on it.

I missed your hangout since I was hanging with the mouse and have to commend Disney for trying to fix things to avoid repeated mess ups like the Disney Store line. After major issues on Friday I braved the store line on Sunday with my daughter. We were escorted by a Disney member all the way to the store line. There was no running no shortcuts it was done in a very organized manner. There were about 10 ppl that "magically" appeared before us and eventually Disney cast members escorted them out of the line.
A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting”

~~ OUR D23 RECAP SHOW... WITH PEOPLE WHO WERE ACTUALLY THERE! ~~

We had one or two technical hiccups last Sunday, which meant our guest Marc Velez was unable to properly join us from D23 Expo (I'm blaming the cat, I always blame the cat!). The good news is, now that the event is done and dusted, not only can Marc come back on the show with a bit of hindsight, we can also invite some other D23 attendees to let us know what their impressions of this mammoth event was.

From what we've heard, D23 Expo has turned into quite the monster, with a couple of glaring glitches, but on the whole, everyone had one whale of a time - how did Disney actually pull this off? And are there any lessons that can be learned for 2017?

Also on this Hangout, two lucky winners will be walking away with a San Diego  Souvenir Guide from 2014, that 45th Anniversary one with the gorgeous Jim Lee artwork on the cover, each. But the cherry on the cake? These have been signed by the one and only JIM LEE! And maybe, if we say his name enough times on the Hangout, the man himself might magically appear, like Beetlejuice!*

(* this will not happen, just to let you know)

~~ THE 'FOREPLAY' EPISODE! ~~

Bit of a short one this week, as we don't have a massive amount to talk about - it's a Bank Holiday here in the UK so everybody's all buggered off for the weekend! However, there are cons on the horizon, the new television season is about to kick off and we have some big guests joining us in the next couple of months - lots to look forward to.

So, join Leonard, Alyssa Franks and Mark Searby as we look at the shows that made a big splash at SDCC 2015 and what appears to be the big shakers, especially on the small screen in the forthcoming weeks. Have any of the impressions made at SDCC translated to anticipation for the shows to come? Did any shows slip under the radar? What are you going to be watching, coming soon?

~~ IT'S FIGHT CLUB!! ~~

So much to talk about this week: of course it was Force Friday this week, in which +Star Wars came out of the woodwork to pick up their prime toys as the ramp up began for the promtion of #TheForceAwakens , departments of Marvel Studios found themselves on the opposing ends of a PR war as +Kevin Fiege  took direct control of the film department - for better or worse? - and this weekend has seen DragonCon take place in Atlanta and ICE (International Comic Expo) has been running in Birmingham. Busy weekend.

We're hoping to be joined by Tara from +The Geekiary  to report on WonderWon and Leonard will be giving his take on ICE, which he visited. Going to be a fun show!
