Its so odd.. prices before and after are always cheaper then Travel Planners prices, but so far this year they are still above $300 a night up to over $400 for the days following the convention. I can get a suite at the Hard Rock for $260 a night after the convention....weird.

No, SDCC Unofficial Blog is reporting that they confirmed with OnPeak that April 5 will be the main hotel sale:

How long before the main sale do Early Bird hotels usually become available?

No. Sometimes it is a little earlier, but the sale extends past general registration, so anyone who gets a badge there can take advantage of the early bird deals.

Has anyone ever stayed at the motel 6 by the airport?
I saw the review for the downtown motel 6 and I'm wondering if it's similar.

There's a thread for Hotel Reviews as well as a compilation of said thread by hotel. The Downtown Motel 6 Downtown has a single review,as of the last time reviews were checked. I believe the review itself is from 2013.

Compilation of Hotel Reviews for SDCC (linked to the page with the Downtown Motel 6): You are not allowed to view links. Register or Login

Edit: I'm incredibly tired and just realized that you're looking for reviews of the one by the airport, not the Downtown location. There don't appear to be any from the compiled list/on the forum. Hopefully someone else can let you know or I'd suggest just seeing what online review sites say about the location. You may be able to see if they said similar thinks to what was said about the downtown motel 6. Or even compare pictures etc. Sorry about my mix-up on that.

That being said, there is a better thread to ask about particular hotels:

How or when, if at all, would we find out if the Hotel form has changed this year?

Id hate to practice over and over and over and over on the old form only to find its completely different

assume it will be different so that your not disappointed. And then if it isn't, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
/careerpessimist

I think they'll give us a walk through with pictures with at least a few days to spare. They did last year didn't they? or was that just the year before?

EDIT: oops, forgot to mention we don't want a discussion on the OnPeak Hotel Lottery (or 1st come 1st serve this year maybe?) in this thread if we can help it. This thread is more just general discussions on hotels for 2016, even hotels that are not included in the official room block.

wait what? you dont want to talk about who or how the hotel sale will happen in the hotel sale thread?

most of the responses in this thread are in regard to the sale and/or the form... why wouldnt you you want to talk about it?

am I missing something?

Sorry, didn't mean to direct it at you. This thread isn't supposed to be about the hotel lottery through travel planners/onpeak. But it's hard for people to not talk about it in every thread regarding hotels.

Every year someone eventually makes a thread specifically for that years hotel lottery and we try to keep that topic in one thread if possible

For instance maybe I want to talk about a hotel location, ecperience, deal through hotwire, general costs, etc. Those topics wouldn't be good to mix in with the lottery thread, but they would fit in fine in this one.

Hope I make more sense, I don't remember to elaborate sometimed
