2016 Poll: Hotel Lottery Outcome
« on: April 08, 2016, 07:24:35 PM »
We are collecting information informally to gauge the outcome of the Hotel Lottery. We may share some of the commentary and results on the Cup O' Tea or on the Front Page.

I encourage everyone to participate in the poll and also share their feedback.

Thank you.

We got our first choice and are very happy with it.

That said, we submitted 13 requests total in our group and received just 6 replies.  All were Waitlist except the one with our desired hotel.  For On Peak to simply not respond to 7 out of 13 is unacceptable.  We do have some reasons we might have been flagged (multiple family members with the same odd last name, same home address) but at least two of the 7 are completely unrelated and should have received an email.  And IMO even if someone is flagged they should be informed of this.

I got my first hotel of my top 6 from 1 of 3 sessions I had running, so very happy bout it.  Realize that I'm one of the very few lucky ones tho.

I chose to phone in my selections.  I didn't have a snowballs chance in you know where.  The connection was bad, I had to repeat my name, the spelling of my name, address and email. The hotels were gone before I got off the phone.   I didn't have a problem getting on the wait list.

Our group ended up with 2 waitlist and 2 rejection emails. It really sucks but again, it's not the end of the world. We are just frustrated because it is the aftermath of the reveal.

Forum Housekeeping:
Changed title from "Hotel Lottery Outcome" to "Poll: Hotel Lottery Outcome."

This is to help clarify the title so that people don't confuse this with the SDCC 2016 Hotel Discussion thread over here:

I booked a hotel back in July of last year. And I had another reservation at the Hotel Z. I participated in the lottery just to see if I could help someone else on the forum.

No, I didn't get any Downtown hotels, but I did get the Town & Country.  :-\

My large family/group probably had something like 10 browsers going- 3 got in instantly and of those 1 got 1st choice, 1 got 3rd choice, and one never received email at all. 1 that got in within a minute got 1st choice. Another that got in around the 5 min mark got a mission valley hotel that wasn't in the top 6 choices. Everyone else got wait-listed(4) or never heard back(1). We figure 2 got flagged for duplicates.

Friend #1 had one session going. Got in at around 3 minute, put non gaslamp downtown hotels, got Town and Country

I had 4 sessions going. The first one got in at around 5 or 6 minutes. I put only Mission Valley hotels and got wait listed. I closed out my other sessions and only submitted one form.

Friend #2 had one session. Got in around 9 minutes. Put a mix of Mission Valley, Old Town, airport, and Shelter Island, and got wait listed.

Wife and I submitted 2 requests; got one waitlist email and other no email at all. The only explanation for no email is shared mailing address but I didn't investigate further- do you call on peak to confirm dupes?

I got through almost immediately (was #72, heard the music as soon as the waiting room switched over) and got my first choice, the Bayfront. Everyone else in my group of four was waitlisted.

6 of us submitted for downtown hotels.
5 of us were waitlisted.
1 was put in Old Town.
