I really wish I could attend, but it's just too darn expensive. Of course, that's because I would want a badge to see the exhibitor's hall, etc. (I am talking either the Interactive portion or the film festival). You can really attend on the cheap (movies, live music), if you are willing to be last in line behind the badge holders. I am just spoiled! I do hope there will be offsites we can check out.

Wait-I am a local-shouldn't they have a cheap badge for me?  >:D

I did see that @Midnight is doing a live show from SXSW. Free to badgeholders, but they are going to try and broadcast it over periscope.

The gaming expo is also free, and actually has some panels that stream on Twitch (on the Geek Stage)

Take a look at the Intel article on the Front page for the Containment event.

POTUS and The First Lady will be there too ->

"President Obama will not attend Nancy Reagan's funeral on Friday, opting instead to speak at a festival in Austin, Texas. South by Southwest - an annual music, tech, and film gathering - announced last week that Obama would be the keynote speaker on March 11, and that Michelle Obama was scheduled to speak on March 16. It's the first time in the festival's 30-year history that a sitting president and first lady have participated."

Mr. Robot will be there

USA Network brings the world of the Golden Globe® Award winning series, Mr Robot to SXSW with the 100-feet tall Mr Robot Ferris Wheel and fsociety Coney Island Arcade experience. March 11 to the 14.

Looks like it might be for badgeholders only. (Had put a frowny face, but removed it because I appreciate and enjoy the badgeholders only stuff at SDCC, so I was being a hypocrite!)

Live stream is here:

Friday, March 11 Live Stream Schedule-for those playing along at home. Doesn't look like they are streaming any of the television related panels, but they are streaming the President's keynote today at 2:30 CST:

Quote
Friday, March 11
11:00 AM:    Invisible Influence and Winning at SXSW 2016 with Jonah Berger
1:00 PM:    Opening Keynote: Casey Gerald with Casey Gerald CEO of MBAs Across America
2:30 PM:    Keynote: President Barack Obama with President Barack Obama and Evan Smith
3:45 PM:    Google Self-Driving Car Project with Chris Urmson
5:00 PM:    Bitcoin: Let's Cut Through the Noise Already! with Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss
6:00 PM:    Will 'No-Tipping' Save the Restaurant Industry? with Adam Rapoport and Danny Meyer

Starting on the 16th, they will stream continuously (I think for 12 hours, actually, but not sure) through the 19th.

Their YouTube channel had interviews with celebrities, etc. last year. I need to see if there is anything scheduled.

Looking forward to discussing more ways we can modernize government so it's as smart and dynamic as America itself. See you soon, Austin.

According to Reddit-the Mr. Robot setup is open to the public. I wish I could have made it out there today-it was deserted. I just don't know if I will want to fight for parking and then brave the crowds that will be there on a weekend day. I do love the show...

Here is an article with more info:

From 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., the general public can step right up to the corner of Congress Avenue and West 4th Street and ride the ferris wheel, play air hockey, get a custom-made t-shirt (they’ll be doing about 500 of them a day), and say hello to Gordie the goldfish (needless to say, he has his own hashtag). From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, there’ll be an End of the World party for badge holders, with free beer and food. And here’s the part you really care about, if you’re running around Austin like a chicken with its head cut off: there are phone chargers on every picnic table.

That looks super cool!

I hope they bring this to the parking lot across from the Bayfront (where they had the Scream Queens drop ride) this year at SDCC!

It was so cool-we got there around 10:30 and waited for it to open at 11:00 or so. We went straight for the t-shirts. The line wasn't too long, and we got through quickly. They let you choose the size (mens sizes only), color, ink color and the design (4 designs). I got a black shirt with red ink in the Elliot design. DH got the black shirt with red ink in the Darlene design.

Here is the swag we got (shirts included)

Here are the photos I have uploaded so far:
